And though not run by the City of Alexandria, this Northern Virginia Park Authority site is in the core of Old Town and is a high-quality historic venue:

Carlyle House

Thu-Sat: 10:00-4:00

And let’s not forget our favorite historic site in Old Town, a neighborhood run non-profit art gallery and performing arts venue. The Athenaeum is open every Thu-Sun 12:00-4:00. Admission is always free.
