Take a tour of the most pivotal battleground of the Civil War!
Enhance your holiday in Washington and make a daytrip to Gettysburg! Accordingly, we will investigate the most impactful battle during the American Civil War. This is a private tour with a trained military historian. Begin the day with pickup by luxury car at your lodging location.
The contemporary Visitor’s Center is an excellent stop where the original cyclorama (1883) of the battlefield and the museum exhibits may be examined. Afterwards, explore the National Military Cemetery where President Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.
For lunch, we recommend Food 101, a contemporary café in historic downtown. Or, for a delicious sandwich, the Gettysburg Baking Company in Lincoln Square. Both have scrumptious treats we can take as snacks out to the battlefield.
Each of the three days of battle will be explored in the field including Reynolds Woods, the Virginia Memorial, Pickett’s Charge sites, the Devils Den, Little Round Top, and the Angle. We can customize the experience if you have a particular regiment or battle spot of interest.
In addition, ask us to stop at the Eisenhower Farm for exploration of the grounds there. A perfect day for the first-time visitor or those who have conducted seasoned study.

Fun Fact!
The Battle of Gettysburg transformed the town of Gettysburg. Prior to the Civil War, Gettysburg had been a prosperous village that supported two small colleges. After the battle, however, it was seared by the memories of the slaughter. In the battle’s immediate aftermath, corpses outnumbered residents of the village of just over 2,000 by four to one.
Another Fun Fact!: Brigadier General Gouverneur Warren, a Union hero at Little Round Top in Day Two of the battle, saw previous action with the 5th and 10th New York Volunteer Infantry at the Seven Days Battles, Second Manassas and Antietam.
